BOTSPOT -  Software tool for digging through data.
DIRECT SEARCH - Guide to hundreds of databases and specialized resources usually not indexed by big search engines.  The arrangement is somewhat confusing, but it is an excellent source for business, government and civic affairs.
EEVL Xtra - Searches parts of the Web that Google doesn’t : The "Hidden Web."  Find articles, books, the best websites, the latest industry news, technical reports, technical data, full text e-prints, the latest research, teaching and learning resources and more, in engineering, mathematics and computing.
INFOMINE  - Scholarly Internet research resources developed and supported by the Library of the University of California, Riverside.

INTUIT  - Find the best web sources for study and research.
KARTOO - Different way to look at searching. (Not ADA compliant - does not display text alternative with  illustrations)

HISTORY: IN THE FIRST PERSON - English language personal narratives, including letters, diaries, memoirs, autobiographies, and oral histories. (Primary documents)
MAPS AND MAPPING - "The fascinating World of Maps and Mapping" called Odden's Bookmarks after the compiler, Roelof P. Oddens.
 
IMAGES: DITTO - Solid image search engine with long standing track record. 
 
LEGAL: LAWCRAWLER - Legal information search engine from FindLaw.
 
LITERATURE: CLASSICS - Extensive directory of literary linguistic, historical, and philosophical resources maintained by the Humanities faculty at Cambridge University.

Images from the History of Medicine (IHM) - Access to the nearly 60,000 images in the prints and photograph collection of the History of Medicine Division (HMD) of the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM). The collection includes portraits, pictures of institutions, caricatures, genre scenes, and graphic art in a variety of media, illustrating the social and historical aspects of medicine.
National Center for Health Statistics - Statistical health information.

ALL4ONE SEARCH MACHINE - Responds with results from 4 search engines and directories.
CLEVERSEARCH - Claims to search MetaCrawler, Mamma, and Dogpile.
CLUSTY - A companion to Vivisimo that uses "clustering technology" to categorize and organize search results.
EZ2FIND - Provides coverage of the major search engines, including AlltheWeb, Teoma, Google, AltaVista, MSN (Inktomi), as well as about 1000 specialized databases. Duplicates are removed from results and include links to relevant Open Directory categories .
DOGPILE - "All the results, no mess" however it has many paid listings.
HIGHWAY 61 -  Lighter (humorous) side of metasearching.
IXQUICK - fast, comprehensive and ranks findings by relevance.  Searches 14 engines. Results ranked by relevancy and includes information about which search engine it came from. Currently one of the few meta search tools that supports regular searches, natural language searches, and advanced Boolean searches.  Interface is available in several languages, including English, French, Dutch, Spanish, and German.
LANGENBERG - One-stop shop to use for searching anything on the web.

PROTEUS - Also has links to search engine help pages.
PURESEARCH - Search management utility designed to work look and feel like desktop software.
PROFUSION -  Search more than 500 sources from the Invisible Web, a vast resource of information neglected by traditional search engines.
SEARCH.COM - Search over 700 search engines in real time.  Best feature is ability to search many topics in specialized search engines. 
SUPERCRAWLER.COM  - Searches major search engines, removes duplicates, sorts by confidence and displays matching results.
SURFWAX - Delivers results from a broad range of sources including the visible and invisible Web, newsfeeds, and intranets.  It previews and summarizes results.  (Payment is required for some advanced features.)
